APC (Part 2) for Aliens, Predators, and Marines

I'm about ready to paint the APC, but I wanted to post some before pictures.

So here is the back of the APC. I installed a hatch since there wasn't one to begin with.

A couple of additional views of the turret.

APC (Part 1) for Aliens, Predators, and Marines

Working on an APC for the marines. I am going to use an army toy I got at the dollar general ($8?). I believe it is based on a LAV-300.

Here it is with the cannon removed. There is nova squad member from the reaper bones line next to it to show it's scale.

Since the wheels don't have that flat plate like on the APC in Aliens, I am gluing some plastic on them before I spray paint it.

Some vehicles from Dollar General

I stopped by the Dollar General before work the other day and picked up a few vehicles.

First up are some motocycles ($1 each).

The size looks pretty good. They are little wide, but not bad. I think the blue one would make a good police cycle. Now I just have to find a Ponch miniature.

Next up are a couple of cars. One is a porsche and the other is a minicooper (I think they were $2.75 each).

The minicooper looks good.

I had thought the porsche looked a little small initially. I compare it to some other miniatures later and it didn't look too bad.

Last up is a tank ($3).

I think it fits pretty good.

When I removed the tank from the box I found these two tabs holding it down (I had to turn them to pop them off). I think I might use them for flying bases for spaceships I have been painting.

Scale shots of cheap miniature vehicles

Here is a police cruiser, Gordon from the Batman heroclix.

Another shot of the police cruiser. It looks like a perfect size, just needs some touch up paint to really pop.

Here is one of the humvees with General Ross from heroclix. Looks pretty good.

Another image of the humvee.

I am very satisfied with this purchased. 4 vehicles for $10, so $2.50 a piece.

Cheap Vehicles for Gaming

FIRST POST: MILITARY AND POLICE VEHICLES FOR D20 MODERN GAMES

In my effort to find low cost RPG items, I found the following two sets of toys at Hastings. The hummers and police cruisers look about the right size for use with miniatures. The soldiers and police officers are probably too tall (about a head taller than standard miniatures), though they might be good for parts. I'll post some pictures with miniatures to show the scale of the vehicles and see how they look. Each bag cost me $5.
